Mariana Barbosa: Bush were the last band performing on V.Mouros, it was the last concert from the Golden State tour and , of course the expectation was huge.
“Fugitive” opened the night and “Chemicals between us” warmed up the crowd voices. For the Portuguese it was the first time they’ve seen Chris on stage and since the beginning I notest that the band was much more opened and also more heterogene. Robin instead of playing his drums sit down, got up a few times to see the enthusiastic crowd. Dave, who is well-known about his balancing way of playing the bass walked a few times on the stage to play along with Chris. There’s no doubt it was a big change, but absolutely a change for good.
On “Everything Zen” and “Greedy fly” Gavin jumped to the crowd and played guitar lied down on the fan’s arms - it’s a such a strong image to watch on tv, every time I see it just freaks me the hell out. They played “Insect kin”, “Float” and “Inflatable”, this last one with the entire crowd echoing the words of the song and Gavin dancing on stage.
The show followed with “The one I love” by REM, “Swallowed” , “Comedown” and “Machine head” resulted on a huge mosh pit and an unforgettable image of the 10.000 people with their hands on the air.
“People that we love” , “Glycerine” - with the usual rock ending - about this time, the entire Bush staff was pulled on stage and Gavin said “..these are the guys who make this dream possible every night” , it was a excitement moment. And last but not least, “Little things” finished up this magnificent concert, on my humble opinion one of the best shows of Bush here on Portuguese lands.
