Lyrics
they’re polishing the government
resembles a last waltz
we are the playthings
we are the form
soon it may come
since we can rise
too long since i’ve seen you
we move like satellites
my future lies
in spacetravel
she’s coming over me
they’re burning the tenements
topless progressive thinking
political holes
got six but pray for seven
my future lies
in space travel
she’s coming over me
I employ spies
to stroll the gravel
they never want to leave
my future lies
my future lies
1-2-3
scared of the government
i’m scared of the government
scared of the government
i’m scared of the government
my future lies
in spacetravel
there’s someone after me
I employ spies
in silver tassels
they never seem that pleased
my future lies
my future lies
i employ spies
i employ spies
space
my future lies
my future lies
spacetravel
my future lies
spaectravel

Band Thoughts:
‘So some of this- ‘they’re polishing the government’- is just mistrust, and knowing you don’t have a good handle on what’s going on. And as for the line ‘I employ spies to stroll the gravel’, well there was a lovely drive there [in Ireland]. And it’s also playing slightly into the caricature side of fame, like David Essex in That’ll be the day. You employ a lot of people; every single band that’s successful has a whole bunch of adults working for them whose livelihood is wrapped up while they’re working for them and with them. Employing spies…it’s funny because, the way it’s worded, it could go either way. they could be spies where they’re telling me what’s going on, and keeping cool, or it’s like, I’ve fucked up, I’m getting someone who’s just gathering bad information about me for someone.’- Gavin
“‘Spacetravel’ reminds me more of the 60′s interest in space. It conjures up images of The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe.”- Nigel
“I got into harmonics on this record…. I put some in all over the place because I had this constant guitar going. I think that inspired Nigel to then do the harmonics for Space Travel.”- Gavin
Staff Thoughts:
“This is the best bush ballad ever, followed closely by LTCS. Glycerine can stuff it.”- Brandyn
“This song’s alright. Too bland for me. “-Laura
