Parasite About the demo: I'm always searching for anything and everything Bush. I came across this cassette on ebay, but wasn't too sure on it's authenticity. It was cheap, so I bought just to see. Here's some background info. the seller gave me. He had a German foregin exchange student living with him here in the US. The student told him that this was a demo of Gavin in this band called Parasite. When the student when back to his country, the seller 'accidently' forgot to give the cassette back to him. Now, just by looking at the cassette, it's definetly not fresh pressed. It looks circa '91. But who knows if it's original or what the seller did. But, upon first listen I thought the resemblence in the voices was uncanny. There are only 2 tracks, but the 1st definelty sounded like Gavin to me. as for the 2nd, that one is completely up in the air for me. There is a hand written label that says 'Parasite: parasite, guppy' So those are the tracks. My attempt to get an answer: I post a couple of threads on the Bush forum hoping that gavin would take a listen and answer. But alas, he never did. I did however get a vast array of opinions on whether it is really him or not. You can check out the Bush web site for those discussions, plus take a look in my guest book. There was some feedback left in there too. I figured since gavin would never answer me through the web, that I'd just have to personally deliver a copy to him. So back in March I was able to give Chris a cd copy of the songs. (here's that interview) I begged him to ask everyone to listen to it, hoping for some kind of answer. So off he went with the copy. I had left him my name, number & web address, but no answer. Really...what did I expect. My final attempt: As the tour was coming to an end I decided to take on last shot at asking about the songs. Finally, my last Bush show of the tour (#6), I was able to speak to Chris again. I asked him if he had gotten a chance to listen to the cd or if they just chucked it directly into the trash. Being the sweetheart that he is....he assured me he would never do that, but he did lose the cd case, so he couldn't call me back. Then ..I he addmitted that they DID listen to it & that is was in fact NOT gavin. How much truth there is on the bands side of the story...I have no idea. But I am holding on to the songs just in case they were fibbing. |
